Thibaut Courtois left Chelsea for Real Madrid to be with his family, his agent has claimed.
“There has been a misunderstanding that he wanted to get a move for the wrong reasons, but he was pushing to go out of Chelsea because of his child,” Christophe Henrotay said.
“If the family were in London it would have been totally different. He would have stayed, there is no reason to leave a club like Chelsea, he could have won trophies.
“Unfortunately his kids are living with the mother in Madrid.”
Real Madrid are set to keep Luka Modric despite the player wanting to join Inter Milan.
Modric has been angling for a move to Italy after his exploits at the World Cup this summer.
But Real are set to offer the Croatia international a new contract – doubling his wages to ÂŁ5.8m a season – to keep him happy.
The playmaker could be key for Real this season with Julen Lopetegui freshly installed as their new manager.
Real Madrid will up their pursuit of Eden Hazard next week after being told ÂŁ150m is not enough to sign the Chelsea star.
Hazard is open to leaving Chelsea and is yet to sign the new ÂŁ300,000-a-week contract offered by the club.
Express Sport understands the Blues want close to ÂŁ200m for their Belgium superstar.
And Real are lining up a fresh bid that could come close to Chelsea’s valuation.
Maurizio Sarri is confident Eden Hazard will remain at Chelsea, despite Thibaut Courtois’ best efforts to persuade him to join Real Madrid.
The Belgian has been the subject of major transfer interest this summer.Â
But Sarri claims he has spoken to Hazard, who is now happy to stay at Stamford Bridge.
“I don’t know. I think there were some personal reasons, so I cannot go on personal reasons,” he said of Courtois’ exit. “[Eden] Hazard is with us.
“It is not a problem, I have spoken with his three or four times. He never said anything about the market. He is happy to stay here.”
Cristiano Ronaldo says the Juventus fans were key to his decision to quit Real Madrid for Serie A.
“I felt surprised at the beginning,” Ronaldo said in an interview with JuventusTV.
“I am used to following Juve and I like the club, but since that moment I liked them even more.
“I won’t say it was the key point in my decision, but every detail helps. Maybe. Of course, it helps when you see the people like you, the supporters and club like you, the feeling is completely different.”
Chelsea could lose both Eden Hazard and Willian this month if the money offered is right, says Sky Sports pundit Matt Le Tissier.
Asked whether Hazard or Willian could leave despite Chelsea not being able to buy any replacements, Le Tissier said: “I don’t think you can take it as a given (that they will stay).
“The opportunity is there and if somebody came in, a Barcelona came back in for Willian at £90m or something, would you turn it down?
“As a business can you turn it down? That’s a lot of money.”
Real Madrid have been heavily linked with a move for Thiago from Bayern Munich, with the Spain international widely expected to leave the club this summer.
And Spanish radio station Onda Cero said Los Blancos have now reached an agreement with Thiago – but negotiations with Bayern are still to come.
Thiago is said to be the only player Julen Lopetegui requested when taking over as Real Madrid boss.
Lopetegui worked with the star during his spell as international boss and at under 21 level.
