GROCERY GOSSIP: Getting ready for JerkFest

The Grace International Jerk Food & Music Festival — known as JerkFest — is returning for another year of delicious Caribbean cuisine, vendors, family-oriented activities and high-end entertainment by a variety of musicians.

Organizers are introducing new features this year — including the annual Love & R’n B edition featuring former American Idol, Grammy Award-winning and platinum-selling artist Fantasia, with an opening performance the Juno-wining Durrant. They will take the stage on Aug. 10.

“We are so happy to be back for another year,” says Anthony Plummer, executive director of the festival. “The Toronto community has always welcomed us so warmly and we are promising to give the people what they want – great food and entertainment.” One of the highlights of the event is the Grace Hot & Spicy jerk chicken eating competition, where participants get to test their heat tolerance by tasting some of the spiciest jerk chicken.
