Dancing On Ice: Corrie’s Jane Danson joins Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton and former Neighbours star Mark Little are latest stars confirmed for the show

Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton, former Neighbours star Mark Little and Coronation Street’s Jane Danson are the latest stars to sign up to Dancing On Ice.

The singer and dancer’s participation in the celebrity talent show was announced on Thursday’s edition of Good Morning Britain. 

‘I guess the cat’s out of the bag,’ she said. ‘I’m so excited, I can’t wait to see you and I can’t wait to do some skating for you!’¬†

Melody, 34, joins Gemma Collins, Richard Blackwood, James Jordan, Brian McFadden, Saira Khan and Ryan Sidebottom when the show launches in January. 

Mark has been confirmed as the eighth celebrity contestant. The Australian actor, 58, best known for his role as Joe Mangel in long-running soap Neighbours, was announced during Thursday’s Build Series in London.

‘How exciting this is! My skating is pretty rickety,’ he said after confirming his participation in the returning show.¬†

Jane Danson has also joined the line-up. The actress – who is known for playing Leanne Battersby in the long-running soap – has confirmed she’s set to take part in the forthcoming series of the skating show,

She admitted she trying not to think about getting ‘damaged’. Speaking on ‘Loose Women’ on Thursday, she said: ‘I’ve known since July so quite a while, so I’ve had to keep it under my hat for a long time…

‘The next few days I’ll be starting the training. I can skate a little bit. I think, obviously, when you take on something like this, you’ve got to expect that it’s not without risks but I’m not really thinking about that because I’m seeing it as a challenge.’

Former England cricketer Sidebottom, 40, was announced as the sixth star to join the ITV show hosted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on Talksport Radio on Wednesday.

On taking part in the show, Ryan said: ‘I‚Äôm immensely excited, it‚Äôs obviously something totally different, massively out of my comfort zone.

‘I‚Äôm just going to enjoy the ride, I don‚Äôt take myself too seriously. I‚Äôm going to embrace it, enjoy it, and have a laugh and a giggle along the way.’¬†¬†

Ryan will be getting his skates and sequins on to compete alongside eleven other celebrities in the quest for glory, under the watchful eye of the skating legends Torvill and Dean, who head up the judging panel.

Each week the twelve celebrities will skate live with their professional partners in a bid to impress both the panel and the viewers, who will ultimately decide who wins the show.

Ryan’s signing comes after¬†Saira Khan was confirmed to join the show during Loose Women on Tuesday.

Initially turning down the opportunity over fears she was ‘too old’, the mother-of-two revealed her son¬†Zachariah ‘shamed’ her into taking part on the show.¬†

James, 40 – who is married to Ola Jordan – is certainly expected to impress given his extensive dance training which saw join BBC’s Strictly in 2006 as a professional, before leaving the show in 2013.¬†

James’ newest venture was announced on Tuesday morning during a¬†live appearance on today’s BBC Radio Five Live Breakfast.¬†

On joining the show, James enthused: ‘I can dance but I’m a lot older than I used to be. People are going to probably say I’ve got an unfair advantage but when I got on the ice I actually shocked myself how bad I was.¬†

‘I want to be able to impress Torvill and Dean more than anyone else, but I’m a lot worse than I thought I’d be.’

Brian, 38, was announced a little after James, in a pre recorded message on Lorraine. 

On joining the show, Brian said ‘I’m very excited. I’ve already been practising out the back garden on my rollerblades and my mum says I’m a one man Torvill and Dean.’¬†

The news comes a day after Gemma Collins and Richard Blackwood were the first stars confirmed for the next series.

The duo were unveiled during Monday’s episode of This Morning as they spoke about the new challenges they will face on the ITV skating show.

Admitting she is ‘scared and nervous’ about taking part in the challenge, Gemma added that one of her biggest fears is that her partner won’t be able to lift her.¬†

Whilst Gemma is a novice,¬†Richard admitted he’s got a lot of skating experience.

He revealed: ‘I grew up in Sweden so I used to skate out there. Frozen lakes, on the way to school and stuff, a lot of people don’t know that’¬†

And despite Gemma quipping: ‘Now I’m about to pull out of the show’, Richard revealed he’s not feeling overly-confident.¬†¬†¬†

Ready to hit the ice:¬†Whilst Gemma is a novice, Richard admitted he’s got a lot of skating experience. He revealed: ‘I grew up in Sweden so I used to skate out there’

‘I can skate but I normally dance on dry land,’ he said, ‘dancing and skating are two different things. I can move, I can shake my stuff.’

A host of famous faces, including Jane Danson, Emma Atkins, and Brian McFadden, have been rumoured for the show but Phillip Schofield – who hosts Dancing On Ice with Holly Willoughby- ruled out one name.

Reading out a list of rumoured hopefuls, he commented: ‘Rylan Clark-Neal – Rylan will never do it, he can skate but he’s always said he’ll never do it.’
