Kluivert blow!

Manchester United are set to miss out on Ajax wonderkid Justin Kluivert.

The Dutchman looks set to leave the Amsterdam Arena this summer after being snapped up by super agent Mino Raiola.

Kluivert’s meteoric rise in the Eredivisie has attracted the attention of European heavyweights across the continent.

And United were among the front-runners to land the 19-year-old’s signature in the coming months.

However, according to Dutch outlet VI.nl, Kluivert is now destined to play in Serie A next season.

The publication reports Juventus and AC Milan are very keen on the starlet.

Kluivert’s Ajax deal expires in 2019 and the club were reluctant to sell their most-valued star, but Raiola’s presence means the Dutch giants are now resigned to the fact they will lose the winger to a bigger club.

Transfer News: Antoine Griezmann has been linked with Barcelona throughout the season

Antoine Griezmann update

Ernesto Valverde has broken his silence over the potential signing of Antoine Griezmann.

The Atletico Madrid striker has been linked with the Catalan outfit throughout the season.

And Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu added fuel to the fire earlier this week, claiming he had already spoken with Griezmann’s representatives over a potential summer move.

But Valverde has been quick to play down talk of the Frenchman’s potential switch.

“I don’t know how relevant it is that Bartomeu spoke with the Atleti president,” he told reporters. “He’s a great player, I have no doubt about that.

“I’m sorry but I think we have to be cautious about players who don’t play for us. I think we have to respect what we have here and also our opponents.

“Griezmann has a final coming up and we have to be careful. He’s a great player, that’s clear. In the future, we’ll see what happens.”

Ashley Young: I’m still a winner

Ashley Young insists he still has a winning mentality despite his age.

Left-back Young extended his stay at Old Trafford in March after Manchester United triggered a clause in his contract to extend his deal for another year.

And while he admits he’s “getting on a bit”, the defender insists he still has the hunger to win more trophies.

“I can’t say anything bad about the club,” Young told Jim White on talkSPORT. “I’ve been there now seven years so it’s been fantastic for me.

“The trophies I’ve managed to win there as well. I’m getting on a bit, I’m 33 in July. For me I’ve still got that winning mentality and that desire and that hunger to go and win more trophies as I did when I was 21.

“I’ve still got that belief that I can still do a job when called upon and whenever the manager calls upon me, I go out there and give 100 per cent and try and win as much as I can.”

Marcus Rashford made shock decision

Marcus Rashford made a big decision earlier in the season to earn Jose Mourinho’s trust, according to reports.

Manchester United star Rashford is facing a summer of speculation after toiling under Mourinho’s guidance.

The England international has found minutes tough to come by, regularly jostling with Alexis Sanchez and Anthony Martial for a starting berth.

Arsenal have emerged as potential suitors with Real Madrid and Barcelona also interested.

But the Manchester Evening News say Rashford is determined to be a huge Manchester United hit.

It is claimed the 20-year-old is surrounded by people with his best interests at heart.

Rashford is eager to make a name for himself at United despite Mourinho’s erratic treatment of him, and the MEN say he downloaded special software in a bid to give himself the best chance possible of staying.

He is said to have requested the software himself, and that is reportedly so he can watch and analyse his own performances and compare himself with other players in the same position across the world.

Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho wants Liverpool target Christian Pulisic

Deal abandoned…

Manchester United have abandoned one transfer deal because of Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku, according to reports.

Jose Mourinho is expected to splash the cash this summer in order to ensure United challenge for major honours next season.

Yet the Manchester Evening News say a deal for Atletico Madrid hitman Antoine Griezmann is dead in the water.

That is reportedly because Mourinho feels deals for Sanchez and Lukaku have made a potential transfer redundant.

Christian Pulisic swap deal

Jose Mourinho will try to hijack Liverpool’s deal for Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic, according to reports.

Manchester United and Liverpool have both been tipped to sign Pulisic, whose long-term Borussia Dortmund future is shrouded in uncertainty.

However, the Daily Mirror say Mourinho is ready to gazump Jurgen Klopp by bringing Pulisic to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are primed to add to their attack. Marcus Rashford’s future is shrouded in uncertainty at present having struggled for game time. The same can be said for Anthony Martial, who has toiled.

And the Daily Mirror say United are willing to offer Martial in a bid to derail Liverpool’s plans.

The France international is wanted by Arsenal, Juventus, Chelsea and Tottenham. However, it is Dortmund who now appear likeliest to be his next destination.

Justin Kluivert to Man Utd

Manchester United seem to have been handed a boost in their reported pursuit of Justin Kluivert.

The latest reports indicate that Jose Mourinho could be helped in securing a deal for the 19-year-old by a familiar face – Mino Raiola.

According to Tutto Mercato Web, Kluivert has gone against his father’s wishes by choosing Raiola to represent him.

And that might just play right into United’s hands with a number of agreements already struck thanks to the infamous agent.

Raiola helped take Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Old Trafford since Jose Mourinho’s reign began.

And Tutto Mercato Web suggest a move to the Premier League now beckons for Kluivert, with Raiola to orchestrate it.

United are joined in showing interest in the promising forward by Everton, who look set for another summer spending spree.

I wanted to play for Sir Alex – Jermain Defoe

Jermain Defoe is desperate for Sir Alex Ferguson to “pull through” and has revealed the extent to which he would have relished playing under the former manager following his interest in the striker 14 years ago.

Ferguson considered signing Defoe from West Ham in 2004, but the player instead went to Tottenham while Louis Saha joined United, and the 35-year-old revisited what might have been.

“I never played for him but I played against him many times – an icon all over the world,” Defoe told PA. “His record speaks for itself, and what he achieved at Manchester United. When I heard the news my heart dropped straight away; I want to wish him and the family all the best.

“I hope he pulls through – not so long ago he was presenting Arsene Wenger with that trophy. Away from that he’s a nice guy; he’s had amazing messages from people in football.

“There was interest, at the time I was young. When you’re young it’s nice to be linked with the biggest clubs in the world. They bought Saha; I remember a lot of the boys telling me when I’d go away with England, ‘I thought you were actually coming’.

“That would have been amazing, but I was young, and you get your head down and get on with it. As a manager, I’d have loved to have played for him. There’ll be many players that will say that, because he was the best.”
